  Main Objectives

 

bulletYou should be able to answer "Trivial Pursuit" type questions about the planets, such as, "Which planet is the largest?",  Which planet is rotates backwards?", "Which planet is the least dense?", etc.
bulletYou should be able to explain what determines whether or not a planet has a particular type of gas in its atmosphere
bulletYou should know the relationship between the temperature of a gas and the speed of the molecules
bulletYou should be able to discuss the greenhouse effect and its relationship to the temperature of Earth and Venus
Tuesday Finish discussion of the Big Bang model.  Begin overveiw of the solar system with emphasis on planetary atmospheres.

Outside of class: Read Ch. 7 sections 1-5.  Read Ch. 6 section 5. Read all of Ch. 8.  Go over the Ch. 7 review questions omitting the ones related to the formation of the solar system for now.
