bullethow absolute brightness magntiude is defined and how the unit parsec is defined
bullethow we can use apparent magnitude and luminosity to find out how far away a star is
Monday Exam on Chapters 3, 4, and 5.

Outside of class: Read Chapter 11. Go over Chapter 11 review questions. Complete Recall Questions 1-23 odd numbers only and Questions to Ponder 1 and 11 to be turned in on Thursday. 

Thursday Discuss stellar luminosity and the brightness magnitude scales. 

Outside of class: Read Chapter 12 section 1-5. Go over review questions related to material we discussed in class today. Practice on Calculations 2 and 4.  Do the problem then check your answer in the back of the book.  You won't learn much if you just look up the answer without having tried it yourself first.
