PHY 121 Week 13

  Main Objectives:
Be able to discuss what happened at Chernobyl and Three Mile Island
Be able to discuss some of the factors that may have caused these accidents
Be able to discuss why storage of radioactive waste is a problem and some of the proposed solutions
Be able to give a thorough discussion of the risks and benefits of nuclear power

(Passive solar energy objectives will be on next week's sheet.)

Monday Discuss the nuclear power accidents at Three Mile Island and Chernobyl.

Outside of class:  Read Ch. 11 pages 306-309.  Complete Ch 11 homework questions: 13.

Wednesday Discuss storage of radioactive waste and the risks and benefits of nuclear power.

Outside of class: Read Chapter 11 pages 305-306 and sections 3 and 4.  Complete Ch. 11 homework questions: 20 and 21.

Friday Discuss passive solar energy and review for the exam.

Outside of class:    Reveiw for Monday's exam.
