bulletUnderstand the meaning of displacement, average speed, average velocity, and average acceleration
bulletGiven a description of motion, be able to construct a motion diagram and a pictorial diagram.
bulletRecognize the relationship between v and a when an object is speeding up, slowing down, curving, or at a turning point
Tuesday Introduction to course.   Small group exercise on unit conversions. Begin to think about motion and motion diagrams.

Outside of class: Read the Course Policies, Preface to the Student, Introduction and Overview, Ch. 1 Sec. 1-4 and 9, and the Preface in the Workbook. E-mail me.  Complete Workbook Exercises 37-41 (Ch. 1).

Thursday Discuss vectors and average velocity.  Small group exercises on motion diagrams.

Outside of class: Read Ch. 1 Sec. 5-8. Complete workbook exercises 21, 23, 25, and 28.

Friday Discuss acceleration and pictorial diagrams. Small group exercises on pictorial diagrams.

Outside of class: Finish any workbook exercises not completed in your groups.  Complete Ch. 1 homework from textbook  16, 20, 26, 42, 54 to be turned in on Tuesday.
