Week 11 Assignments

  Main Objectives for Week:
  • Be able to identify series and parallel connections of bulbs
  • Be able to explain why brightness of bulbs in series is different from bulbs in parallel
  • Be able to explain how the brightness of bulbs in a series circuit changes when you add more bulbs
  • Be able to explain how the brightness of bulbs in a parallel circuit changes when you add more bulbs
  • Know how adding more bulbs in series or parallel affects the total resistance of the circuit
  • Be able to use your model of an electric circuit to predict the current flow in a simple circuit.
  • Be able to predict how the brightness of bulbs will change when a change is made to the circuit.
  • Be able to explain how exponential growth and linear growth are different.
  • Know what doubling time is and how to calculate it.
  • Know what half-life is.
Monday Quiz 4 on Sections 1 and 2.  Complete 3.3, 3.4, 3.5 and 3.6.

Outside of class: Complete homework problem 3.3 for Wednesday.  Remember to do 3.1 as well if you didn't turn it in today.  If you are behind schedule, you should find a time when you can come in and get caught up.

Wednesday Lecture and experiment on understanding exponential growth.

Outside of class: Read handout on exponential growth.

Friday Complete sections 3.7, 3.8, 3.9, 3.10, 4.1 and 4.6.

Outside of class: Complete homework problems 3.4 and 3.5 for Monday.
